Pennsylvania Judge Blocks Voter ID Law – 10/2/12 – Bethany Monk

A Pennsylvania state judge on Tuesday halted efforts to require voters to show a government-issued photo ID before casting their ballots in the November election.

Judge Robert Simpson’s ruling followed two days of testimony about some of the difficulties people may face in obtaining valid identification as well as the state’s role in making it easier to do so.

The ruling may be appealed to the state Supreme Court, scheduled to convene on Oct. 15.

Michael Geer, president of the Pennsylvania Family Institute (PFI), told CitizenLink that just as people need photo identification to board an airplane, it also should be a requirement at the ballot box.

“The notion of being who you say you are seems integral to a fair and just voting system,” he said.

Geer said the law has been a “contentious issue” since Gov. Tom Corbett signed it on March 14.  Opponents of voter ID laws, including the Obama administration, claim they alienate certain voters, including minorities, who may not have a state-issued ID.

On May 1, a group of individuals and civil rights groups sued to block the law before the election, claiming it violates the state constitution by infringing the “fundamental right… Read More

FORMER MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD.”AMERICA WILL BE BROUGHT TO ITS KNEES’  07/31/12   - The Muslim Brotherhood has been the focus of significant media and administration attention in recent months, as the United States tries to conclude where the organization truly stands.

Is it a “largely secular,” reformed organization as James Clapper, the Director of National Intelligence believes?  Or is it simply biding its time until it has amassed enough influence to be a credible threat?

Today, Leon Panetta met with Egypt’s new Islamist President Muhammad Morsi, who is affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, and said he is “convinced“ that Morsi ”is truly committed to implementing democratic reforms here in Egypt.”

‘Under God’ Under Fire… Again

02/16/12 – – The case is brought by an Acton atheist family that objects the mention of God in the pledge. The American Humanist Association (AHA) is representing the “Does” in their effort to completely bar the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in Massachusetts schools because of the phrase “under God.” They argue that the state constitution’s equal rights amendment supports their request because the pledge is discriminatory toward them.

But Brian Camenker of MassResistance says the constitution does not protect atheists in that manner.

Brian Camenker“It’s a very religious document written by John Adams in Constitution protects atheism is absurd,” he contends.

And if the phrase “under God” is unconstitutional, Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel reasons that the use of God’s name on currency or anywhere else would also be unconstitutional.

“I believe that this is one of these frivolous lawsuits destined for ultimate dismissal,” he suggests. “But we can’t take them lightly because they chip away one little brick at a time, until ultimately, they want to have the entire house topple.”

Homeland Security Given Green Light to Monitor American Journalists – 1/09/12 – Under the National Operations Center (NOC)’s Media Monitoring Initiative that emerged from the Department of Homeland Security in November, Washington has written permission to collect and retain personal information from journalists, news anchors, reporters or anyone who uses “traditional and/or social media in real time to keep their audience situationally aware and informed.” According to DHS, the definition of personal identifiable information can consist of any intellect “that permits the identity of an individual to be directly or indirectly inferred, including any information which is linked or linkable to that individual.”

Military Bible Ban Rescinded

12/9/2011 – – ETHESDA, MD – The Walter Reed military hospital says it has rescinded a ban on Bibles or other religious materials being used or given away during visits to wounded troops.

The ban was issued in September but only came to light last week. It said, “No religious items, i.e. Bibles, reading material and/or artifacts are allowed to be given away or used during a visit.”

Iowa Congressman Steve King’s office says that when he demanded an explanation, the hospital’s senior officers told him the memo was improperly worded and would be rewritten to affirm that religious items are “welcome in the hospital, if they are welcomed by the patient.”
On its website, Walter Reed now apologizes and says the visitation policy has been rescinded, that patients’ families may bring religious materials and that religious groups won’t be barred from visiting.

TX High School Students Made to Recite Mexican National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance Exclusive: 10/17/11 - Students in a Texas public high school were made to stand up and recite the Mexican national anthem and Mexican pledge of allegiance as part of a Spanish class assignment, but the school district maintains there was nothing wrong with the lesson.

It happened last month in an intermediate Spanish class at Achieve Early College High School in McAllen, Texas — a city located about 10 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border.

Wearing red, white and green, students had to memorize the Mexican anthem and pledge and stand up and recite them in individually in front of the class.

That didn’t go over well with sophomore Brenda Brinsdon. The 15-year-old sat down and refused to participate. She also caught it all on video:  WATCH VIDEO – READ ENTIRE STORY HERE

Beck’s OnStar Concerns Were Right — GM Subsidiary Tracking Continues Even After Cancellation 09/22/2011 – OnStar began e-mailing customers Monday about its update to the privacy policy, which grants OnStar the right to sell that GPS-derived data in an anonymized format.

Adam Denison, a spokesman for the General Motors subsidiary, said OnStar does not currently sell customer data, but it reserves that right. He said both the new and old privacy policies allow OnStar to chronicle a vehicle’s every movement and its speed, though it’s not clear where that’s stated in the old policy.

“What’s changed you want to cancel your OnStar service, we are going to maintain a two-way connection to your vehicle unless the customer says otherwise,” Denison said in a telephone interview.

The connection will continue, he said, to make it “easier to re-enroll” in the program, which charges plans from $19 to $29 monthly for help with navigation and emergencies.

Charles Finney died AUGUST 16, 1875. An attorney, Finney saw so many Scripture references in Blackstone’s Law Commentaries that he bought a Bible and came to faith. Charles Finney’s 1835 Revival Lectures inspired George Williams to found the YMCA-Young Men’s Christian Association-in 1844, and William Booth to found The Salvation Army in 1865. Charles Finney formed the Benevolent Empire, a network of volunteer organizations to aid poor with healthcare and social needs, which in 1834 had a budget rivaling the Federal Government. Concerning the Kingdom of God, Charles Finney wrote “Every member must work or quit. No honorary members.” While Charles Finney was president of Oberlin College, 1851-1866, it was a station on the Underground Railroad smuggling slaves to freedom and it granted the first college degree in the United States to a black woman, Mary Jane Patterson. New Warning About Muslim Brotherhood’s Influence on White House From…Liberal Marxist Muslim

08/17/11 – You‘ll never guess who’s now warning about a Muslim Brotherhood influence at the White House. Newt Gingrich? Nope. John Bolton? Not exactly.

Instead, it’s Canadian political activist, devout Muslim and self-described liberal Marxist, Tarek Fatah. Surprised?

Back in June, Fatah appeared at Ideacity, Canada’s “Premier meeting of the minds” to share his shocking viewpoints on both mainstream and radical Islam (including the Muslim Brotherhood). During his fascinating talk, Fatah said that “the religion of Islam is being used as a tool by a fascist force.” It is important to note that Fatah is also a Muslim. Perhaps most shocking, though, were his words about the Muslim Brotherhood and its relation to the American presidency. He said:

“Instead of bringing victory over the fascist forces of the Muslim Brotherhood, we now recognize that their infiltration is right up to the American White House, but we can’t say that.”

Federal Appeals Court Rules: Individual Mandate is Unconstitutional

08/12/11 – / ATLANTA (AP) — A federal appeals court has struck down the requirement in President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul package that virtually all Americans must carry health insurance or face penalties.

A divided three-judge panel of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday struck down the so-called individual mandate, siding with 26 states that had sued to block the law.

But the decision didn’t go as far as a lower court that had invalidated the entire overhaul as unconstitutional.

The states and other critics say the law violates people’s rights. The Justice Department counters that the legislative branch was exercising a “quintessential” power.

An appeals court and three federal judges have upheld the law, and two have invalidated it. Experts say the debate ultimately will be decided by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mark of The Beast Unveiled…?

08/12/11 – Breitbart.comElectronic skin tattoo has medical, gaming, spy uses. A hair-thin electronic patch that adheres to the skin like a temporary tattoo could transform medical sensing, computer gaming and even spy operations, according to a US study published Thursday.

The micro-electronics technology, called an epidermal electronic system (EES), was developed by an international team of researchers from the United States, China and Singapore, and is described in the journal Science.

“It’s a technology that blurs the distinction between electronics and biology,” said co-author John Rogers, a professor in materials science and engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

“Our goal was to develop an electronic technology that could integrate with the skin in a way that is mechanically and physiologically invisible to the user.”

White House ‘Cleanse’ References to Jerusalem, Israel From Its Web Site?

08/10/11 – / Weekly Standard – On Tuesday, The Weekly Standard’s deputy online editor, Daniel Halper, made a noteworthy charge against the White House.

Following an article in which he discussed the ongoing debate over which country the U.S. believes Jerusalem is in (hint: It’s not Israel), Halper claims that the White House “cleansed” its site of references to the city being definitively tied to the Jewish homeland.

Let’s start with a recent State Department press release, highlighting the United States’ official stance on Jerusalem (Halper cites this as well):

QUESTION: What is the State Department’s position regarding American persons born in Jerusalem who wish to have passports issued that indicate their place of birth as Israel?

ANSWER: Current U.S. Government policy is that U.S. citizens born in Jerusalem may not have “Israel” listed in their passports as their place of birth. See the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Affairs Manual 7 FAM 1300 Appendix D for further details.

Federal Court Upholds Ban on Public Prayer

08/02/11 – - The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld on Friday a lower court’s ban on praying in Jesus’ name before public meetings.

The American Civil Liberties Union and the Americans United for Separation of Church and State initially sued North Board of Commissioners in Forsyth, North Carolina in 2007, because opening prayers mentioned Jesus more often than not.

Judge Paul V. Niemeyer, the lone dissenter in the 2-1 decision, strongly criticized his fellow jurists:

“The majority has dared to step in and regulate the language of prayer — the sacred dialogue between humankind and God. Such a decision treats prayer agnostically; reduces it to civil nicety; … Most frightfully, it will require secular legislative and judicial bodies to evaluate and parse particular religious prayers under an array of criteria. … I respectfully submit that we must maintain a sacred respect of each religion, and when a group of citizens comes together, as does the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners, and manifests that sacred respect — allowing the prayers of each to be spoken in the religion’s own voice — we must be glad to let it be.”

OBAMACARE: Insurers Must Cover Birth Control, Including “Morning After” Abortion Pill

08/01/11 – WASHINGTON ( / AP) — Health insurance plans must cover birth control as preventive care for women, with no copays, the Obama administration said Monday in a decision with far-reaching implications for health care as well as social mores.

The requirement is part of a broad expansion of coverage for women’s preventive care under President Barack Obama’s health care law. Also to be covered without copays are breast pumps for nursing mothers, an annual “well-woman” physical, screening for the virus that causes cervical cancer and for diabetes during pregnancy, counseling on domestic violence, and other services.

“These historic guidelines are based on science and existing (medical) literature and will help ensure women get the preventive health benefits they need,” said Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

Case against GOV. Perry’s Prayer Event Dismissed

07/29/11 – -  A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed to block Texas Governor Rick Perry from having a role in an upcoming prayer event in Houston.

U.S. District Judge Gray H. Miller on Thursday afternoon ruled that the group of atheists and agnostics that filed the suit, the Freedom From Religion Foundation, did not have standing to sue. The plaintiffs argued that Perry’s day of prayer and fasting would violate the Constitution. The event, called The Response, is scheduled for August 6.

Perry defended the event, comparing it to President Barack Obama’s participation in the National Day of Prayer. He said “my prayer is that the courts will find that the First Amendment is still applicable to the governor.”

Texas Lawmaker Calls for Congressional Probe Into Ban of Christian Prayers at Military Funerals

07/26/11 – – A Texas lawmaker is calling for a congressional investigation of the Houston National Cemetery after he went undercover and determined that cemetery officials are still preventing Christian prayers at the funerals of military veterans.

“The Obama administration continues to try to prevent the word ‘God’ from being used at the funerals of our heroes,” said. Rep. John Culberson (R-Texas).

“It’s unacceptable and I’m going to put a stop to it as fast as humanly possible,” Culberson told Fox News Radio. He attended a burial service at the cemetery undercover on July 8, when he says he witnessed volunteer members of the honor guard from the Veterans of Foreign Wars being prohibited from using any references to God.

“The Obama administration had told the nation and me they were not interfering with the prayer said over the graves of veterans,” he said. “And I went undercover to personally verify that claim.” VA officials have strongly denied they’ve banned any religious speech – and have offered support for Arleen Ocasio, the cemetery’s director.

Supporting 10th Amendment, Gov. Perry “Fine” with NY Gay Marriage

07/22/11 Rumored Republican presidential candidate and Texas Gov. Rick Perry said he’s “fine” with New York’s recent passage of gay marriage — because he supports states’ rights.

Speaking at an Aspen, Colo. forum Friday, Perry called himself an “unapologetic social conservative” who personally opposes gay marriage, but is also a firm believer in the 10th Amendment, the Associated Press reported.

“Our friends in New York six weeks ago passed a statute that said marriage can be between two people of the same sex. And you know what? That’s New York, that’s their business, and that’s fine with me,” Perry said. “That is their call. If you believe in the 10th Amendment, stay out of their business.”

CBN News’ The Brody Report observed some of the potential problems that could arise from Perry’s comments with his evangelical base:

‘Net neutrality’ won’t curb offensive media

07/15/11 – OneNewsNow -  Virtually all news, media and communication today are migrating to the Internet, and Seton Motley of Less Government and predicts that almost all of it will exclusively be on the web in the not-too-distant future. That is where the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and its December 2010 approval of net neutrality comes into play.

“Net neutrality is their one-stop shop for future censorship,” Motley suggests.

Seton MotleyWhile the FCC plans to do away with the Fairness Doctrine this August, he contends that the commission is really just replacing one bad regulation with another. Meanwhile, technology has already rendered the former moot.

“Ten years from now,” he says, “when you get in your car, it’s not going to be an over-the-air broadcast radio in your dashboard; it’s going to be an Internet radio.”

Judges Push Radical Agenda On Military

07/09/11 – – “Radical” and “disturbing” – that’s how one conservative law group is describing this week’s federal court decision calling for the immediate lifting of the military’s ban against openly homosexual personnel.

The three-judge panel of the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals asked the United States government to lift the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, pointing to Congress’ decision to repeal the policy last year. The Pentagon stated they are currently studying the ruling and will follow the court order, and will take steps to inform military officers in the field.

Daniel Blomberg is the litigation staff counsel with the Alliance Defense Fund.”…This decision…effectively stops the law from being in effect nationwide, worldwide,” says Blomberg. “So during a time of international conflict, our military is being forced by the judicial system — and unfortunately by the Obama administration’s Justice Department — to implement a change rapidly they’re not prepared to implement. It’s a very disturbing development for our military.”

Halt to Deportation of Citizen’s Same-Sex Partner Is Abuse of Presidential Power

7/01/11 The federal decision to stop deportation proceedings against a Venezuela-born New Jersey man who legally married his same-sex partner in the United States — effectively recognizing gay marriage — is an “abuse of executive authority” by the Obama administration, immigration experts told

Henry Velandia, a 27-year-old professional salsa dancer from Caracas now living in New Jersey, legally married U.S. citizen Josh Vandiver, 30, in Connecticut last year, but due to the Defense of Marriage Act — a 1996 federal law that defines marriage as between a man and a woman — Vandiver was not allowed to sponsor Velandia for a green card in the same way a heterosexual person could for his or her spouse. The Department of Homeland Security nevertheless decided to drop deportation efforts against him Wednesday.

Velandia told that Wednesday’s ruling was a “big, uplifting moment” and the product of a year’s worth of hard work on behalf of the couple’s attorney, Lavi Soloway.

“I can now be with Josh, my husband, in this country without fear of being torn apart,” he said on Friday. “It’s like our first day… Read More

Surprise…US recognizes Muslim Brotherhood

06/30/11 – The U.S. has decided to formally resume contact with Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood group – which does not recognize Israel – in a move that could further alienate some Jewish voters already skeptical of President Barack Obama, it was reported.

One senior U.S. official said the Brotherhood’s rise in political prominence after the forced departure of former President Hosni Mubarak earlier this year makes the American contact necessary.

Update w/Video: Houston VA Cemetery Censors God & Jesus From Funerals

06/29/11 – TheBlaze.comEarlier today The Blaze covered a breaking story out of Houston, where three different veterans groups have filed suit against the Veterans Administration, alleging a First Amendment violation when the VA censored the memorial services at the Houston National Cemetery by prohibiting words like ‘God’ and ‘Jesus’ from being spoken during funerals.

Arleen Ocascio, the director of the VA cemetery in Houston who told groups that they cannot use specific religious language on the property, has been offered the opportunity to respond to this story and has not yet returned our calls. Ms. Ocascio has informed other media outlets that she cannot comment on any issue currently being litigated. In the meantime, calls for Ocascio’s resignation or termination are building.

Compromise on Pledge of Allegiance in Oregon Town…?

6/28/11 – An Oregon town’s City Council voted down a proposal to say the Pledge of Allegiance before every council meeting, but later passed a compromise that seemed to make no one happy.

The approved measure allows the pledge to be recited at just four Eugene City Council meetings a year, those closest to the Fourth of July, Veterans Day, Memorial Day and Flag Day.

It was supposed to be simple, but Councilman Mike Clark soon found out when you’re dealing with God and country, nothing in Eugene is easy.

Clark says all he wanted to do was unite the council and show his more conservative constituents that in this city where diversity is celebrated, their more traditional values also are important.

“It’s a little ironic to see those who have championed the idea of tolerance be less tolerant on this question,” Clark Said. Mayor Kitty Piercy called the Pledge of Allegiance divisive. “If there’s one thing the flag stands for,” Piercy says, “it’s that people don’t have to be compelled to say the Pledge of Allegiance or anything else.”

Under Clark’s proposal, saying the pledge … Read More

Is George Soros Trying To Stack the Courts?

06/27/11 – - Billionaire George Soros spends tens of millions each year supporting a range of liberal social and political causes, from drug legalization to immigration reform to gay marriage to abolishing the death penalty.

But a less well-known Soros priority — replacing elections for judges with selection-by-committee — now has critics accusing him of trying to stack the courts.

Most non-federal judges around the country are selected by voters in elections. But some states use a process called “merit selection” in which a committee – often made up of lawyers – appoints judges to the bench instead.

Soros has spent several million dollars in the past decade in an attempt to get more states to scrap elections and adopt the merit method. Supporters say it would allow judges to focus on interpreting the law rather than on raising campaign funds and winning elections.

“Merit selection would end the money race and get judges out of the fundraising business,” Lynn Marks, executive director of Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts — a group that has received money from Soros’ Open Society Institute — told

WARNING: Administration Plans to Grant Amnesty to Illegal Immigrants…While America Sleeps

06/25/11 – – Eight Republican senators and an independent group that supports tighter limits on immigration are warning that the Obama administration is drafting a plan to “unilaterally” issue blanket amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants as it struggles to win support in Congress for an overhaul of immigration laws.

The senators who wrote the White House on Monday say they are concerned that the administration is readying a “Plan B” in case a comprehensive reform bill cannot win enough support to clear Congress.

“It seems more real than just bullying (Republicans) into a bill — that it’s a plan that they can actually put forward … circumventing Congress,” an aide told on Wednesday.

In their letter, the senators — Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa; Orrin Hatch, R-Utah; David Vitter, R-La.; Jim Bunning, R-Ky.; Saxby Chambliss, Ga.; Johnny Isakson, R-Ga.; James Inhofe, R-Okla.; and Thad Cochran, R-Miss. — urge the president to “abandon” what they say is a move to “unilaterally extend either deferred action or parole to millions of illegal aliens in the United States.”

Under Pressure, W.H. Releases DNC Secret Meet Names

Politico Reports - The March 7 meeting in the Blue Room of the residence has drawn attention and criticism because most of the attendees were donors or fundraisers and the session was arranged by the DNC. Good-government advocates said hosting the event at the White House was ill-advised.

“There’s a pretty clear line — or there should be a clear line,” Meredith McGehee of the Campaign Legal Center, which presses for tighter controls on campaign finance, recently told POLITICO. “I don’t have a problem with the president inviting Wall Street people to the White House to discuss policy, but why does it need to be DNC-sponsored? I think that’s what raises the eyebrows. Even if it’s not a fundraiser, it’s a cultivation.”

President ‘Becoming an Absolute Monarch’ on war powers, Dem says

06/24/11 – - By Pete Kasperowicz - A House Democrat warned Friday that the U.S. president is becoming an “absolute monarch” on matters related to the authority to start a war. Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said Congress must act to limit funding for military operations in Libya in order to correct that trend.

“We have been sliding for 70 years to a situation where Congress has nothing to do with the decision about whether to go to war or not, and the president is becoming an absolute monarch,” Nadler said on the floor. “And we must put a stop to that right now, if we don’t want to become an empire instead of a republic.

Gov. Perry Heeds Will of Texans: Says No to TSA Groping

06/21/11 – – AUSTIN, Texas, June 21, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ — After being confronted in person and on videotape by co-founder Wesley Strackbein to add the TSA anti-groping bill to the Special Session at a June 18th New Orleans book signing, Texas Gov. Rick Perry concluded that it was time to lend his belated support to the Travelers’ Dignity Act, which he called to the Special Session late yesterday afternoon.

“We are grateful that Gov. Perry — following a disappointing flip-flop — heard the cry of his constituents and did what he said he would do: bring the TSA bill to the floor of the Texas legislature,” Strackbein stated.

Strackbein’s appeal to the Governor was echoed by Texas State Rep. David Simpson (R-Longview) who wrote a pull-no-punches open letter to Perry on Monday morning in which he expressed his growing frustration.

“Texans overwhelmingly support this measure as I am sure your office can attest. And the Legislature is ready to pass it as soon as you call the bill,” wrote Simpson. “Gov. Perry, there remains only for you to call the bill. Any… Read More

NBC Removes ‘Under God’ from the Pledge of Allegiance

06/21/11 – -  WASHINGTON, June 20, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ – In their broadcast of the US Open Golf Tournament yesterday, NBC removed the phrase “under God” from a reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Christian Defense Coalition contends this was no accident and calls for the network to “fully explain” their motivation in removing the phrase.

An apology by NBC saying they “are sorry if anyone was offended” does not go far enough in addressing this troubling and deliberate rewriting of history and the removal of the mention of God from the public square.

Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Washington, D.C. based Christian Defense Coalition, states;

“Like most Americans, I was stunned to see NBC remove the expression ‘under God’ from a televised reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance.  It is troubling to see a major television network deliberately remove the mention of God from the public square and rewrite history.

“It is clear that this was not an accident and the pathetic apology NBC offered to the public is not enough in addressing this controversy.

FREEDOM WINS! Wisconsin Supreme Court Upholds Controversial Union Law

06/14/11 -  MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Wisconsin’s polarizing union rights law will take effect, thanks to a sharply divided ruling by the state Supreme Court that determined a judge overstepped her authority when she voided the governor’s plan to curb collective bargaining rights for most public workers.

The ruling Tuesday evening was a major victory for Republican Gov. Scott Walker, who said the law was needed to help address the state’s $3.6 billion budget shortfall. His proposal — which drew tens of thousands of demonstrators to the state Capitol for weeks earlier this year — thrust Wisconsin to the forefront of a national debate over labor rights.

In a 4-3 decision that included a blistering dissent, the Supreme Court ruled that Dane County Circuit Judge Maryann Sumi overstepped when she declared the law void last month. Sumi sided with a lawsuit that claimed Republicans didn’t provide proper public notice of a meeting that helped get the original legislation approved after Democratic senators fled the state to prevent a vote.

Walker claimed that the law, which also requires public employees to pay more for their… Read More

Fairness Doctrine to be Removed from Federal Regulations 06/10/11 - At the age of 62, it appears that broadcasting’s no-longer-enforced Fairness Doctrine is about to be taken off the books.

The policy required radio and TV stations to air both sides of controversial issues. It made sense in broadcasting’s infancy, when most communities only had one or a few stations. Even though the idea was abandoned in the 1980s, it was never removed from the list of regulations. Democrats, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, have suggested bringing it back — an obvious ploy to force radio stations to carry liberal talk shows in proportion to conservative talk shows, knocking some of the latter off the air.

Now, the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has indicated a willingness to remove the Fairness Doctrine language from the record.

“I fully support deleting the Fairness Doctrine and related provisions from the Code of Federal Regulations, so that there can be no mistake that what has been a dead letter is truly dead,” FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski wrote to Rep. Fred. Upton, the Republican chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. “I … anticipate that the process… Read More

Minority Report Realized: Creepy Homeland Security Mobile ‘Malintent’ Pre-Crime Screening System to Scan Americans at Large Events Passes First Round of Testing 06/05/11 – Straight out of Minority Report a new Homeland Security program would subject Americans to pre-crime interrogations and physiological scans to detect people who are intending to commit a terrorist act at sports stadiums, malls, airports and other public places has moved closer to being implemented after the FAST program passed its first round of testing at an undisclosed location in northeast US.

The system uses a computer program that studies physiological indicators of a person, such as heart rate and the steadiness of a person’s gaze, and then uses the data to make a judgment on whether that individual has “malintent”.

Group Says E-mails Link FCC to Liberal Group on “Net Neutrality”

06/03/11 – -

The FCC appears to have coordinated its public message regarding ‘net neutrality’ with Free Press, a left wing non-profit organization seeking to reform the media, according to e-mails released Thursday.

Supporters of ‘net neutrality’, like Free Press, think equal access to the internet is a “civil right” and that service providers should be prohibited from charging certain prices for certain speeds. When providers have this kind of control, they say, customers in weaker coverage areas get stuck with weaker service. Opponents of ‘net neutrality’ say that if service is regulated in this way then content will soon be regulated as well.

In April 2010, a federal appeals court ruled that the FCC did not have any authority to regulate the internet in this way, however the government agency voted to move forward with its ‘net neutrality’ program in December, just a few months later.

On its website, the Federal Communications Commission lists among its goals: “promoting competition, innovation, and investment in broadband services and facilities,” something impossible under ‘net neutrality’ rules.

Free Press, meanwhile, openly advocates for ‘net neutrality’ on its website, and describes internet… Read More

Is Proposed San Francisco Circumcision Ban Constitutional? 05/29/11 – The City of San Francisco is contemplating a law that will ban male circumcision for infants and children. There are no religious exemptions in the proposed law and it is an obvious attempt to override the parents’ ability to make decisions for their own children on this medical issue.

I want to encourage you to look at this article by Eugene Volokh. Professor Volokh is a highly respected professor of Constitutional Law at UCLA Law School. He is a well-known conservative and a former Supreme Court law clerk.

His analysis of this particular issue is interesting and important. But the real reason I want to encourage you to read it is because he undertakes a serious analysis of the current state of the law regarding the constitutional rights of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children.

Some who criticize the PRA claim that the current law for parental rights is well-settled and places our rights at a very high and protected level. This article by Professor Volokh clearly demonstrates that the current state of the law is muddled … Read More

Conflict of Interest at the Highest Levels…George Soros’ Ties to Over 30 Major News Organizations? 05/12/11 – Editor’s note: This is the first of a two part series on George Soros and the media. When liberal investor George Soros gave $1.8 million to National Public Radio , it became part of the firestorm of controversy that jeopardized NPR’s federal funding. But that gift only hints at the widespread influence the controversial billionaire has on the mainstream media. Soros, who spent $27 million trying to defeat President Bush in 2004, has ties to more than 30 mainstream news outlets – including The New York Times, Washington Post, the Associated Press, NBC and ABC.

Prominent journalists like ABC’s Christiane Amanpour and former Washington Post editor and now Vice President Len Downie serve on boards of operations that take Soros cash. This despite the Society of Professional Journalists’ ethical code stating: “avoid all conflicts real or perceived.”

This information is part of an upcoming report by the Media Research Centers Business & Media Institute which has been looking into George Soros and his influence on the media.

This is scary stuff America….Big Sis has again gone too far. US Labor Dept. Offers Smartphone ‘App’ for Tracking Wages 05/11/11 – Instead of relying on the company’s records, employees can now track their own work hours through a new application for smartphones.

The U.S. Labor Department on Monday announced the launch of its first app — a timesheet to help employees independently track the hours they work and determine the wages they are owed.

“I am pleased that my department is able to leverage increasingly popular and available technology to ensure that workers receive the wages to which they are entitled,” said Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis. “This app will help empower workers to understand and stand up for their rights when employers have denied their hard-earned pay.”

The free app, available in both English and Spanish, allows users to track regular work hours, break time and any overtime hours.  A glossary, contact information and materials about wage laws are easily accessible through links to the Labor Department’s Wage and Hour Division.

Rogue Arizona: No More Waiting for the Feds; AZ Going With Online Donations and Prison Labor to Build Border Fence – 05/09/11 – No More Waiting for the Feds; AZ Going With Online Donations and Prison Labor to Build Border Fence      WATCH VIDEO HERE

PHOENIX – Arizona lawmakers want more fence along the border with Mexico — whether the federal government thinks it’s necessary or not.

They’ve got a plan that could get a project started using online donations and prison labor. If they get enough money, all they would have to do is get cooperation from landowners and construction could begin as soon as this year.

Gov. Jan Brewer recently signed a bill that sets the state on a course that begins with launching a website to raise money for the work, said state Sen. Steve Smith, the bill’s sponsor.

“We’re going to build this site as fast as we can, and promote it, and market the heck out of it,” said Smith, a first-term Republican senator from Maricopa.

Arizona — strapped for cash and mired in a budget crisis — is already using public donations to pay for its legal defense of the SB1070 illegal immigration law.

New Law Requires Photo ID, Proof of Citizenship to Vote in Kansas 04/26/11 - Voters in Kansas will need to show a photo ID the next time they go to the polls.

In a signing ceremony last week, Republican Gov. Sam Brownback signed a bill to protect the integrity of elections, he said: “We must be able to accurately and fairly discern the will of the people of Kansas.”

While Gov. Brownback said the new law establishes “reasonable steps” to protect the rights of citizens, the American Civil Liberties Union called it a “giant leap backwards.”

The new Kansas law requires photo ID from all in-person voters at every election. People submitting mail-in ballots must include either a copy of their photo ID or the number from the photo ID card. The law also requires proof of citizenship – a birth certificate, for example — for new voters who register on or after Jan. 1, 2013.

The ACLU complains that the new law offers free birth certificates only to Kansas-born residents, while residents born out-of-state “would bear the financial burden and trouble of contacting their home states to attain birth certificates” to meet the new law’s requirements. “The costs associated with meeting… Read More

Why No Easter Shout-out from America’s CEO…? 04/25/11 – What? No Easter Greeting?  Just when I thought the current team running the White House might have used up all its allotted mistakes comes word that President Obama failed to issue either either an Easter or a Good Friday greeting to the nation.

Now, let’s forget for a moment that these greetings, which presidents issue on many holidays and commemorations of events, are largely perfunctory and symbolic gestures that nobody cares about.

Until there’s a problem with them.

Fox News first caught the blunder and put it into context that makes the omission insulting to Christians. The mistake is odd enough to call into question just what Obama’s priorities are. READ FULL STORY HERE

All the President’s Funny Money – Guest Contributor Michelle Malkin - 04/21/11  Ka-ching, ka-ching, ka-ching. President Obama’s perpetual campaign cash-o-matic machine kicks into high gear again this week as the celebrity-in-chief heads to Hollywood for several high-priced fundraisers. But while the Democrats’ 2012 re-election team stuffs its hands into every liberal deep pocket in sight, questions about the Obama 2008 campaign finance operation still fester.

Last week, the laggard watchdogs at the Federal Election Commission announced an audit of the Obama 2008 campaign committee — which raised a record-setting $750 million. White House flacks are downplaying the probe as a “routine review.”

But there’s nothing routine about the nearly $3 million Obama has spent on legal expenses to address federal campaign finance irregularities and inquiries. Roll Call reports that Obama’s campaign legal fees have exceeded all other House and presidential campaign committees, including members of Congress under ethics investigations.

There’s nothing routine about the whopping $6 million that Team Obama has refunded to individual donors since Obama took office.

And there’s nothing routine about the 26 warning letters to Obama for America totaling “more than 1,500 pages of questions and data that … Read More

Shutting Down Sharia Law in U.S. 04/17/11 -  Karen Lugo, an attorney based in southern California, serves as The Federalist Society‘s expert on sharia law and was recently appointed to the California Advisory Committee’s Commission on Civil Rights. She reports that 25 of the 50 U.S. states have taken it upon themselves to stand up for constitutional freedoms through legislation and court cases, as many state legislators are concerned about a recent ruling from a judge in New Jersey.

Stop sharia finance“A judge ruled that a former husband was not guilty of rape or violating his former wife’s rights when he had harassed her through the period of a separation because the man acted according to what he perceived as his sharia right,” Lugo explains.

Even though that judge’s ruling was overturned on appeal, it instigated concerns throughout the country.

“Immediately you saw states and legislators become concerned about the fact that in America a judge had gone out of his way to consider a personal affiliation or loyalty to sharia as transcending our own criminal law,” the… Read More

Obama Ignores Spending Bill’s “Czar” Ban – And, Breaks Key Campaign Promise from 2008…Imagine That. – CQ Roll Call  04/18/11 – President Obama “is planning to ignore language in the 2011 spending package that would ban several top White House advisory posts,” signing a statement in which he says has no obligation to comply, Politico reports.

“The anti-czar language in the spending bill marked a victory for Republicans and conservative pundits, who accused the administration of giving unelected bureaucrats too much power within the White House. But the language didn’t appear to have any immediate impact on Obama’s staff. Energy and climate adviser Carol Browner resigned earlier this year; health czar Nancy-Ann DeParle was promoted to deputy White House chief of staff; Obama’s urban affairs adviser, Adolfo Carrión, left the White House to become a regional director for the Department of Housing and Urban Development; and the White House said auto and manufacturing adviser Ron Bloom wouldn’t be affected by the language.”

Chicago school bans some lunches brought from home

Chicago Tribune 04/12/11 – To encourage healthful eating, Chicago school doesn’t allow kids to bring lunches or certain snacks from home — and some parents, and many students, aren’t fans of the policy

Fernando Dominguez cut the figure of a young revolutionary leader during a recent lunch period at his elementary school.

“Who thinks the lunch is not good enough?” the seventh-grader shouted to his lunch mates in Spanish and English.

Dozens of hands flew in the air and fellow students shouted along: “We should bring our own lunch! We should bring our own lunch! We should bring our own lunch!”

Fernando waved his hand over the crowd and asked a visiting reporter: “Do you see the situation?”

House Votes to Repeal Net Neutrality 04/09/11 - WASHINGTON (AP) — House Republicans adamant that the government keep its hands off the Internet passed a bill Friday to repeal federal rules barring Internet service providers from blocking or interfering with traffic on their networks.

Republicans, in voting to repeal rules on “network neutrality” set down by the Federal Communications Commission, said the FCC lacked the authority to promulgate the rules. They disputed the need to intervene in an already open Internet and warned that the rules would stifle investment in broadband systems.

“The FCC power grab would allow it to regulate any interstate communication service on barely more than a whim and without any additional input from Congress,” said Rep. Greg Walden, R-Ore., sponsor of the legislation. The Internet, he added, “is open and innovative thanks to the government’s hands-off approach.”

Wisconsin Judge Declares Union Law Not in Effect 03/31/11 A Wisconsin judge ruled Thursday that the state’s explosive new union law that would severely limit the collective bargaining power of most public-sector employees is not in effect.

Dane County Circuit Judge Maryann Sumi’s ruling follows a restraining order she issued earlier this month preventing the secretary of state from publishing the law, typically the last step before it takes effect. But Republicans pushing the bill convinced another state office to publish it and declared the law was in effect.

Sumi issued a declaration on Thursday morning saying the law wasn’t properly published and isn’t in effect.

The ruling deals a setback to Gov. Scott Walker and his administration, which said Tuesday that work on the payroll changes would stop if Sumi ruled the law hadn’t taken effect.

The ruling is just the latest twist in a budget drama that has gripped the nation’s attention for the last several weeks.

Good News: Arizona Senate OKs Bill that Would Protect Religious Liberties on Campus 03/26/11

The Arizona Senate has approved legislation that would protect the rights of college students to practice their sincerely held religious beliefs. The bill also passed in the House.

“Students who have a strong moral or religious belief about an issue (shouldn’t) get kicked out of their program or be denied their degree or given bad grades simply because of their religious beliefs,” said Deborah Sheasby, legal counsel at the Center for Arizona Policy.

“University students should not be forced to make the choice between getting an education and following their religious beliefs, and HB 2565 ensures that for Arizona students.”

Blaze Exclusive: Congressman Presses Holder to Investigate ‘Terrorist Plans’ in Bank Plot

(Watch the original video.)

In the letter, Chaffetz references video, posted yesterday on this site, showing a one-time SEIU official, Stephen Lerner, outlining a plan to collapse the American economy — including crashing the stock market — so that unions can become more powerful. The sinister plan is set to take place in May and includes mass homeowner mortgage strikes.

Chaffetz tells Holder “the escalation of Mr. Lerner’s threats would clearly constitute domestic terrorism and pose substantial harm to the American people and the economy.“ He goes on to request Holder investigate ”Mr. Lerner’s terrorist plans and notify me how the Department of Justice plans to respond to these threats.”

The letter, sent Wednesday, was also distributed to Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), chairman of the House committee on Oversight & Government Reform, and Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), the ranking minority member. Read Full Story

House Votes to Defund National Public Radio

( 03/17/11  By Matt Cover The House of Representatives voted 228-192 on Thursday to deny federal funding to National Public Radio, stripping the radio network of any federal tax money despite opposition from Democrats.

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-Colo.), would prohibit any federal grants, loans, or direct appropriations from going to NPR or its affiliates. The bill would also prohibit those affiliates from using federal funds to pay their dues or purchase content from NPR.

The bill targets two sources of funding for NPR: direct federal subsidies and member stations’ fees. While direct federal grants from entities such as the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and the Department of Education make up only two percent of NPR’s revenues, member station fees and dues account for 36 percent.

Those station fees are NPR’s largest single source of funding and are paid by member stations who want to buy NPR content like the ‘All Things Considered’ and ‘Car Talk’ programs.

Local public radio stations can still… Read More

Students Targeted – Fed instructs teachers to Facebook creep students…

TheDailyCaller 03/16/11 Education Department officials are threatening school principals with lawsuits if they fail to monitor and curb students’ lunchtime chat and evening Facebook time for expressing ideas and words that are deemed by Washington special-interest groups to be harassment of some students.

There has only been muted opposition to this far-reaching policy among the professionals and advocates in the education sector, most of whom are heavily reliant on funding and support from top-level education officials. The normally government-averse tech-sector is also playing along, and on Mar. 11, Facebook declared that it was “thrilled” to work with White House officials to foster government oversight of teens’ online activities.

The only formal opposition has come from the National School Board Association, which declined to be interviewed by The DC.

The agency’s threats, which are delivered in a so-called “Dear Colleague” letter,” have the support of White House officials, including President Barack Obama, who held a Mar. 10 White House meeting to promote the initiative as a federal “anti-bullying” policy. Read Full Story

Obamacare a ‘Platform’ for Socialized Medicine — Rep. Conyers Makes Startling Admission 03/15/11 - In a few moments of candor on Monday, Democratic Rep. John Conyers (MI) admitted Obamacare is just a “platform,” or a step, toward an eventual government takeover of health care.

“What we’re trying to do is insure everybody, right? We’re trying to insure more people, not less and so it’s my feeling that the rising costs that are going on will not be solved by getting rid of people’s health insurance–that throws them into emergency rooms and charity and other things. That’s why HR 676 is our ultimate solution–is that everybody’s insured from birth on and that’s what we’re still fighting for.”

Does Obama Dream Of Being A Dictator? 03/10/11 – “Wow” That was my reaction to the penultimate sentence of a New York Times story titled:

Obama Seeks A Course of Pragmatism In The Middle East

Two years into what some people have called the best job in the world, yet facing a lingering recession, massive unemployment, a threatening debt crisis, and diminishing approval ratings, President Obama may have let his ‘inner voice’ be heard when he allegedly revealed his dictatorial fantasy, as reported by the Times:

‘Mr. Obama has told people that it would be so much easier to be the president of China.’

I wonder who are the ‘people’ he said this to?

You have to speculate if the President might feel the same if he still had a Democratic-controlled House of Representatives and a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate as he did when he was sworn in back in 2009.

It would be so much easier to just have to deal with the rest of the world and let your party do what it wishes in the Legislative Branch.

‘We’ve Surrendered the Constitution to the Jihadists,’ Muslim Witness Says at Hearing on Radicalization of U.S. Muslims

North Korea Nears Completion of Electromagnetic Pulse Bomb

ABC 03/09/11North Korea appears to be protesting the joint U.S. and South Korean military maneuvers by jamming Global Positioning Devices in the south, which is a nuisance for cell phone and computers users — but is a hint of the looming menace for the military.

Since March 4, Pyongyang has been trying to disrupt GPS receivers critical to South Korean military communications apparently in protest of the ongoing joint military training exercises between South Korean and U.S. forces. Strong jamming signals were sent intermittently every five to 10 minutes.

The scope of the damage has been minimal, putting some mobile phones and certain military equipment that use GPS signals on the fritz.

Large metropolitan areas including parts of Seoul, Incheon and Paju have been affected by the jamming, but “the situation is getting wrapped up, no severe damage has been reported for the last two days,” Kyoungwoo Lee, deputy director of Korea Communications Commission, said. Read Full Story

Report: Feds Requested Early Release of Convicted Terrorist 03/09/11 -   The U.S. government formally requested the early release of a convicted terrorist from federal prison, despite assurances from the New York man that he continued to support the killing of American soldiers deployed in Muslim countries, reports.

The convicted terrorist, Mohammed Babar, was arrested in 2004 and later pleaded guilty to four counts of providing material support to Al Qaeda and one count of providing funds to Al Qaeda. He was ultimately released on bail in late 2008 after serving four years and eight months, according to

U.S. officials filed a sealed request for leniency for Babar in late 2010 due to his “extraordinary cooperation” in terror probes and sought an “appropriate reduction” in his sentence, which, according to federal guidelines, was to be between 30 and 70 years in prison upon conviction. Following the request, a judge sentenced Babar, who was born in New York City, to 10 years of supervised release and a court fee of $500.

Gitmo to Stay Open – New Military Trials at Guantanamo Bay Could Include 9/11 Suspects – Associated Press 03/08/11 - WASHINGTON — President Obama’s decision to resume military trials for detainees at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, will open the door for the prosecution there of several suspected 9/11 conspirators, including alleged mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.

Obama’s order, which reverses his move two years ago to halt new trials, has reignited arguments over the legality of the military commissions, despite ongoing U.S. efforts to reform the hotly debated system.

But fierce congressional opposition to trying Mohammed and other Guantanamo detainees in the United States left Obama with few options. And it forced him to reluctantly retreat, at least for now, from his promise to shut he prison down.

A handful of detainees have been charged in connection with the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on America, including Mohammed. But the charges were dismissed following Obama’s decision to halt military commissions in January 2009.

Administration officials declined Monday to discuss the potential prosecution of Mohammed or the other detainees. But Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said Guantanamo is a safe location for such a trial. Read Full Story

Court won’t hear challenge to ‘In God We Trust’ – Associated Press – 03/07/11 - WASHINGTON –  The Supreme Court won’t hear an atheist’s latest challenge to the U.S. government’s references to God.  The court on Monday refused to hear an appeal from Michael Newdow, who says government references to God are unconstitutional and infringe on his religious beliefs.

This appeal dealt with the inscription of the national motto “In God We Trust” on U.S. coins and currency. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco says the phrase is ceremonial and patriotic and “has nothing whatsoever to do with the establishment of religion.”

The court refused to hear Newdow’s appeal of that decision.

Islamist Rally at White House ‘Postponed’; Radical Accuses West of Interfering With Mideast Embrace of Shari’a

Financial terrorism suspected in 2008 economic crash 03/02/11 - Evidence outlined in a Pentagon contractor report suggests that financial subversion carried out by unknown parties, such as terrorists or hostile nations, contributed to the 2008 economic crash by covertly using vulnerabilities in the U.S. financial system.

The unclassified 2009 report “Economic Warfare: Risks and Responses” by financial analyst Kevin D. Freeman, a copy of which was obtained by The Washington Times, states that “a three-phased attack was planned and is in the process against the United States economy.” View Report Here

While economic analysts and a final report from the federal government’s Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission blame the crash on such economic factors as high-risk mortgage lending practices and poor federal regulation and supervision, the Pentagon contractor adds a new element: “outside forces,” a factor the commission did not examine.

“There is sufficient justification to question whether outside forces triggered, capitalized upon or magnified the economic difficulties of 2008,” the report says, explaining that those domestic economic factors would have caused a “normal downturn” but not the “near collapse” of the global economic system that took place.

Gingrich: “If Palin Took Obama Actions, There Would Be Calls for Impeachment ” Interview 02/25/11 - In an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV Friday, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said President Barack Obama’s decision not to fully enforce the Defense of Marriage law eventually could lead to a constitutional crisis, as he has directly violated his constitutional duties by arbitrarily suspending a law.

Gingrich even suggested that, if a “President Sarah Palin” had taken a similar action, there would have been immediate calls for her impeachment. Asked directly whether Obama could be subject to articles of impeachment, Gingrich said, “I think that’s something you get to much later. But I think clearly it is a dereliction of duty. Clearly it’s a violation of his constitutional oath. Clearly it is not something that can be allowed to stand.”

Is the West Bank Next?…

Aljazeera 02/23/11 -  If Binyamin Netanyahu’s govenment, and its lobby in Washington, were rational they would be rushing to plan Israel’s evacuation from the occupied territories, and encouraging the establishment of a Palestinian state in the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem.

That is because they would understand that the Arab revolution will not stop at the gates of the West Bank, especially when it is the occupation that unites virtually all Arabs and Muslims in common fury.

As for the Palestinians themselves, they are watching the revolutions with a combination of joy and humiliation.  Other Arabs are freeing themselves from local tyrants while they remain under a foreign occupation that grows more onerous every day -particularly in East Jerusalem. While other Arabs revel in what they have accomplished, the Palestinians remain, and are regarded as, victims.

It is not going to last. The Palestinians will revolt, just as the other Arabs have, and the occupation will end.

But it is up to the Israelis to help decide how it will end (just as it was up to the Mubarak government and Egyptian army to decide whether the regime would go down in blood and flames or accept the inevitable). Read Full Story

Arizona Senate Panel Passes Sweeping Bills Targeting Illegals, Birthright Citizenship 02/22/11 - PHOENIX — An Arizona Senate committee late Tuesday narrowly approved a sweeping bill that would target illegal immigrants in public housing, public benefits and the workplace.

The committee earlier Tuesday also approved a bill that would deny automatic citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants in a measure designed to set up a possible U.S. Supreme Court case on the issue.

Republican state Sen. Russell Pearce, who authored Arizona’s controversial illegal immigration law last year that touched off a nationwide debate on whether states can enforce federal immigration laws, sponsored Tuesday’s more sweeping measure.

“If you’re in the country illegally, you don’t have a right to public benefits, period,” he said.

The bill toughens requirements that employers check work eligibility of new hires, allowing for their business licenses to be suspended if they don’t use the federal E-Verify system. Workers caught using a false identity to get a job would face mandatory six-month jail sentences.

US must be removed from Islamic world: Khamenei

TNA 02/20/11 – Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Sunday called on Muslims to “remove” the US from the Islamic world.

“The main problem in the Muslim world is the presence of the United States. It is the biggest problem. We need to address that,” he told a gathering of Shiite and Sunni scholars in Tehran for an international conference on Islam.

“It is necessary to remove the US from the Islamic world,” the all-powerful cleric and Islamic republic’s commander-in-chief said, adding that the country’s arch-foe was currently weak.

Khamenei urged Muslims worldwide to preserve the “people’s movement in Egypt,” saying it was the duty of both the people and dignitaries of Arab nations and the entire Islamic community.

He reiterated that the Arab revolts were “Islamic” and must be consolidated.

“The enemies try to say that the popular movements in Egypt, Tunisia and other nations are un-Islamic, but certainly these popular movements are Islamic and must be consolidated,” he said.

ABC News 02/19/11 - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called Israeli settlements “illegitimate” shortly before the United States vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution condemning continued Israeli settlement expansion as illegal.

In an exclusive interview with “This Week” anchor Christiane Amanpour taped on Friday afternoon, Clinton said, “I think it is absolutely clear to say, number one, that it’s been American policy for many years that settlements were illegitimate and it is the continuing goal and highest priority of the Obama administration to keep working toward a two-state solution with both Israelis and Palestinians.” Read Full Story

‘Kill Switch’ Internet bill alarms privacy experts

USA Today 02/16/11 -  Just as the Egyptian government recently forced the Internet to go dark, U.S. officials could flip the switch if the Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset legislation becomes law, say its critics.

Proponents of the bill, which is expected to be reintroduced in the current session of Congress, dismiss the detractors as ill-informed — even naive.

The ominously nicknamed Kill Switch bill is sure to be a flashpoint of discussion at the RSA Conference, the nation’s largest gathering of computer-security experts that takes place here this week.

The bill — crafted by Sens. Joseph Lieberman, I-Conn.; Susan Collins, R-Maine; and Tom Carper, D-Del. — aims to defend the economic infrastructure from a cyberterrorist attack. But it has free-speech advocates and privacy experts howling over the prospect of a government agency quelling the communication of hundreds of millions of people. Read Full Story

Fed Forcing Schools to Teach Arabic, Really? 02/09/11 -  A pro-family attorney in The Lone Star State says Washington bureaucrats are “meddling” in local education by “forcing” schools to teach students about the Arabic culture.

Parents in a North Texas school district are upset that they were not notified until after the fact about a plan to require all students in a couple of schools to learn Arabic culture. Officials with the Mansfield Independent School District apologized to outraged parents at a recent meeting for not informing them of a mandatory curriculum change at Kenneth Davis Elementary School and Cross Timbers Intermediate School.
Mansfield was one of five school districts in the country to receive the Foreign Language Assistance Program (FLAP) Grant, which identifies Arabic as a “language of the future.” The plan reportedly involves embedding Arabic culture in all facets of school activities, from discussing the Arabic roots of the word “algebra” to serving a Middle Eastern dessert at a class party. The Mansfield classes are part of a five-year, $1.3 million federal grant. Read Full Story

Judge Rules Health Care Law Unconstitutional “Entire Thing Must Be Thrown Out” – 01/31/11  A  U.S. Florida district judge ruled Monday that the health care law unconstitutional because it violates the Commerce Clause

Judge Roger Vinson said as a result of the unconstitutionality of the “individual mandate” that requires people to buy insurance, the entire law must be thrown out.

“I must reluctantly conclude that Congress exceeded the bounds of its authority in passing the Act with the individual mandate. That is not to say, of course, that Congress is without power to address the problems and inequities in our health care system. The health care market is more than one sixth of the national economy, and without doubt Congress has the power to reform and
regulate this market. That has not been disputed in this case. The principal dispute
has been about how Congress chose to exercise that power here,” Vinson wrote. Read Full Story

Medicare Actuary Doubts Health Care Law Will Hold Down Costs – Or Allow You to Keep Your Existing Coverage – 01/26/11 - WASHINGTON — Two of the central promises of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul law are unlikely to be fulfilled, Medicare’s independent economic expert told Congress on Wednesday.

The landmark legislation probably won’t hold costs down, and it won’t let everybody keep their current health insurance if they like it, Chief Actuary Richard Foster told the House Budget Committee. His office is responsible for independent long-range cost estimates.

Foster’s assessment came a day after Obama in his State of the Union message told lawmakers that he’s open to improvements in the law, but unwilling to rehash the health care debate of the past two years. Read Full Story

Freedom Alert Update: ObamaNET ID Moving Forward Under the Radar

AFA – 01/20/11 - ObamaNet – Government issued Internet ID card required for all Americans. The government will be able to track every web site you visit, every keystroke you send, every purchase you make, every blog comment, and every Facebook and Twitter post.

January 20, 2011

A Washington Times editorial is warning that the White House cybersecurity adviser and Commerce Secretary Gary Locke are drawing up “ObamaNet,” President Obama’s mandate for what amounts to a national ID card for the Internet.

President Obama wants to establish passwords for every citizen to centralize your personal information. Instead of logging onto Facebook or one’s bank using separate passwords established with each individual company or website, you will be required to use the government-issued password.

According to the Washington Times, here are the problems with “ObamaNet”:

  • The government will be able to track every web site you visit and every keystroke you send on your home computer.
  • The government will be able to track every purchase you make and every deposit and withdrawal, and gain access to your electronic health care records.
  • The government will be able to track every blog comment you make, along with every Facebook and Twitter post.
  • The government will be able to… Read More

House Kicks Off New Session by Reading Constitution Aloud

Fox News 1/06/11 – Republicans in the House came to power vowing to govern by the book — or in the case of the Constitution, by the parchment.

And partly as a nod to Republican representatives elected as part of the conservative Tea Party movement, one of the first acts of the newly GOP-controlled House will be to read that founding document aloud on Thursday.

Though it has been inserted as text into the Congressional Record before, the supreme law of the land has never been read aloud before in the body known as “the People’s House.” Read Full Story & Watch Video

14 states may target birthright citizenship

Yahoo Arizona 1/04/11 - State politicians will introduce model legislation this week to encourage states to prevent children of illegal immigrants from being granted citizenship under the 14th Amendment.

Lawmakers in at least 14 states have said they are committed to passing the legislation targeting birthright citizenship. Arizona’s anti-illegal-immigrant bill, SB-1070, was also based on model legislation that could be easily copied by states, and at least seven states are likely to pass bills similar to the first Arizona immigration overhaul this year, according to one analysis by an immigrants rights group. Internet Under Seige by UN & US FCC – 12/19/10 –  The U.N. is talking about regulating the Web. Meanwhile, Washington is moving toward regulating online news and information content. Though not unexpected, these are deeply disturbing developments.

The U.S. media don’t seem interested in the United Nations’ attempt to invade the private sector, so word that the international body “is considering whether to set up an inter-governmental working group to harmonize global efforts by policy makers to regulate the Internet” had to come from an Australian outlet called iTnews.

Nothing new here. The U.N. has been wanting to run the Web for years and is not letting a crisis — the WikiLeaks releases — go to waste. Following the Chicagoland model, it has plans to form an intergovernmental group that would “attempt to create global standards for policing the Internet.” Read Full Story

The Federal Communications Commission will vote on Dec. 21 on whether to adopt regulations that ban the blocking of lawful traffic but allow Internet service providers to ration Web traffic on their networks.

New Omnibus Bill Loaded with $8 Billion of Pork – What’s It going to cost you? – 12/16/10 – The fate of the government is hanging in the balance with a showdown set on a spending bill filled with nearly 7,000 earmarks totaling over $8 billion. Read the Bill Here

A showdown is coming to D.C. and the pressure is on Democrats to hold together despite mounting criticism of wasteful spending, while Republicans look to grab some crossover votes.

The fate of the government, literally hangs in the balance. Without Congressional action on a budget, the federal government shuts down for lack of money.

The latest showdown comes largely as a result of earmarks. Both sides know they have to pay roughly a trillion dollars to just to keep the government running, but it’s those pet projects seen as wasteful, irresponsible and unnecessary that have voters upset and many in Congress afraid.

All but eight Senate Republicans had agreed to a two year ban on earmarks. A majority Democrats did not, voting… Read More

Army Doc: Deployment Orders Illegal Without Pres. Obama’s Birth Records

Denver 7News – Deb Stanley 12/14/10 – FORT MEADE, Md. — A military court was set to hear the case Tuesday of an Army doctor charged with refusing to deploy to Afghanistan because he says he doubts whether President Barack Obama was born in the U.S. and therefore questions his eligibility to be commander in chief. Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin, an 18-year Army veteran from Greeley, disobeyed orders to report earlier this year to Fort Campbell in Kentucky to prepare for deployment, saying he believed the orders were illegal. In videos posted on YouTube, Lakin aligned himself with so-called “birthers” who question whether Obama is a natural-born citizen as the U.S. Constitution requires for presidents.  Read Full Story

DREAM Act really more of a nightmare…Pro Amnesty Legislation 11/24/10 – This week Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is expected to once again introduce legislation paving the way for illegal immigrants to gain citizenship — a move many opponents have labeled another incremental attempt by Democrats to grant legal status to illegal aliens.

Its official name is “The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act.” But in discussing it, columnist Kimberly Dvorak says the DREAM Act (S.B. 3827) would grant “illegal immigrants in the country amnesty by offering them a college education or the option to join the military as a means to join the legal immigration ranks.” Read Full Story

Muslims fight Oklahoma anti-sharia amendment – 11/10/10 - Earlier this week, U.S. District Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange issued a temporary restraining order to block the state’s constitutional amendment that prohibits courts from considering international or Islamic law when deciding cases.

That move prevents the state election board from certifying the results of the November 2 general election, in which the amendment was approved by over 70 percent of voters. The order will remain in effect until a November 22 hearing on a requested preliminary injunction, which was issued in a lawsuit filed by the executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in Oklahoma. Obama and DOMA – high crimes and misdemeanors? – 10/31/10 – Federal agencies are implementing President Obama’s executive order to provide more healthcare benefits to same-gender partners of government employees, but one conservative attorney thinks he’s in direct violation of federal law and is again overstepping his boundaries. In the opinion of Liberty Counsel‘s Matt Barber, Obama’s order to change the 1997 Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) to include a 24-hour “leave without pay” benefit to domestic partners represents another abuse of power.
“He has, via unconstitutional executive fiat, unilaterally and arbitrarily disregarded the federal Defense of Marriage Act, known as DOMA, which states that the federal government only recognizes legitimate marriage as between one man and one woman,” Barber contends. Read Full Story

U.S. Pushes to Ease Technical Obstacles to Wiretapping

The New York Times – 10/19/2010 - WASHINGTON — Law enforcement and counterterrorism officials, citing lapses in compliance with surveillance orders, are pushing to overhaul a federal law that requires phone and broadband carriers to ensure that their networks can be wiretapped, federal officials say.

How Could Our Leaders Do This to Our Troops? – 10/12/10 – It’s utterly amazing that our nation’s leadership is able to send our troops around the world and overnight have sleeping quarters (known in military parlance as “billets”) constructed to house them.

It is equally amazing that the required arms (bullets) can be shipped with equally profound efficiency and timely deliverance to any spot determined by that same leadership, anywhere in the world.

And yet, the same leadership fails to deliver election ballots to the very people who defend the right to vote for every other American. Is that a failure in leadership?

I come to this moment of truth not as a Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian, far left or far right zealot but as an American.

As a former United States Marine, I find it utterly unconscionable that our troops are denied the same rights as those citizens who refuse to even bend over and pick up a piece of trash they have so selfishly discarded on the street… Read Full Story
