TheBlaze.com 10/17/11 – Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) took to the House floor last week to state her views on the Protect Life Act. Despite her opposition to the anti-abortion bill, it passed in the House of Representatives, with 15 Democrats joining 236 Republicans in supporting it.

The measure amends the Democrats’ health care law (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) to prohibit federal monies from being spent on health plans that cover abortion services. Additionally, it protects health care workers who oppose the procedure.

Lee’s comments about abortion during her address were somewhat odd, considering that she referred to the controversial medical procedure as a “needed action.” Additionally, she dubbed the heartbeats of fetuses as mere “sounds.” CNSNews.com has more:

Voicing her opposition to the measure on Thursday, Jackson Lee referenced a previous Texas law, “Just as the courts ruled unconstitutional and upheld the provision of the Texas law that required a doctor to talk first to a woman seeking an abortion and to allow or force them both to listen, uh, to sounds that, uh, might discourage this needed action, this is going to be held unconstitutional. This is not a law that can pass,” Jackson said.

ONENEWSNOW.COM 05/06/11 – The House has passed a comprehensive bill banning use of federal tax dollars for abortion — but it’s unlikely to gain approval in the Senate.

The vote for H.R. 3 (251-175) was essentially along party lines, with 235 Republicans voting for the measure (five did not vote) and only 16 Democrats joining them (one did not vote). The bill, sponsored by Rep. Chris Smith (R-New Jersey) had 227 co-sponsors. “The No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act” now goes to the Democratic-led Senate, where it is not expected to pass; in addition, the White House this week threatened to veto it if it made it that far.             READ FULL STORY HERE

David Limbaugh – The Democrats’ passage of socialized medicine Sunday night will spell either the beginning of the end of this great nation or the beginning of the rebirth of its freedom. The choice is still in the hands of Americans.

First, it’s not an exaggeration to say Obamacare is socialized medicine; in fact, it doesn’t go far enough simply to say it represents the government takeover of our entire health care system. Washington (AP) – Congress is getting tougher on both borrowers and lenders blamed for inflating a housing bubble that, when it popped, plunged the nation into a severe recession two years ago.

Under sweeping financial overhauls that have now passed the House and Senate, home buyers won’t be able to get a mortgage without producing pay stubs or other evidence they can make their monthly payments. A new consumer watchdog will police lenders who offer impossible-to-resist subprime mortgages and then jack up the interest rates to impossible-to-pay levels.

Democratic leaders leaked a solid-seeming price tag — $940 billion over 10 years — before the CBO released any official comment or report. Liberal blogs and mainstream newswires started parroting Democrats’ claims that their plan “would cut the deficit by $130 billion over the next decade, and $1.2 trillion in the second decade of the plan’s implementation” — again, before the CBO had released an iota of information, and hours before the House Rules Committee posted the long-awaited reconciliation bill.

House Majority Whip James Clyburn pronounced himself “giddy” over the supposed CBO scoring. Math lover and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi proclaimed: “I love numbers. They’re so precise.”

Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday launched the Democrats’ argument for the health care bill, claiming, “This is an American proposal that honors the traditions of our country.” Does that suggest that opposition is un-American? And what are the traditions that are American that this law fulfills? The Democrats argue that the bill fulfills the “right” of all Americans to government-assured health care services. The congressional Democrats claim many other things that a majority of the country believes to be inconsistent with truth and reality.

So, considering the rhetorical onslaught that is about to be unleashed on the public, to paraphrase (and with the deepest apologies to) Winston Churchill on the occasion of the fall of France in June 1940:

I have so few words to express the depth of my disgust with the unconstitutional path and passing of Obamacare and the corruption in Congress. So let me just tell you about the storm coming to Washington.

The majority of Americans have voiced ad nauseam their grave concerns with and rejection of Washington’s health care bills. Like a host of other commentators, I have written at least a dozen syndicated articles this past year addressing sound objections. And like you, I’ve joined rallies, signed petitions and passed along a plethora of reasonable nonpartisan negative critiques of Obamacare. But at every turn, Washington has ignored us and demonized our opposition.

Obamacare violates commerce laws by forcing Americans to purchase a product and annihilates the federal government’s 10th Amendment restrictions over U.S. states and citizens, which is why a whopping two-thirds of states across the nation already are legally battling over whether federal law can trump state laws via Obamacare.

Larry Elder – Americans resoundingly reject ObamaCare. What, then, accounts for the Democrats’ determination?

Democrats believe health care is a right. Start with that premise and everything else makes complete sense. Rights — whether the right to vote or to freely assemble or to avoid self-incrimination — exist independent of popular feeling, poll numbers or even, in the case of health care, the Constitution.

Democrats don’t care how much ObamaCare costs. When President Barack Obama addressed Republicans, Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., carefully outlined the costs of this “reform.” He explained why costs figure to go up, not down. To someone truly interested in a cost-benefit analysis, these points warrant a rebuttal. But as MSNBC host Ed Schultz said, when it comes to health care reform and money, “I don’t care how much it costs.” An owner of an NFL team fired his coach despite the team’s winning record. He explained, “I gave him an unlimited expense account — and he exceeded it.” To Democrats, “economic justice” knows no price tag.
